Pre-Diabetes & Type 2 Diabetes
You've had the GP appointment. You've been told to "watch what you eat" and "do more exercise." You've left with a leaflet and a follow-up in six months. Whether you've been flagged as pre-diabetic or already have a Type 2 diagnosis, most people carry on doing the same things — and get the same results. There is another way.

These are the things people tell me they are genuinely worried about — and rarely get a straight answer to.
These are not stupid questions. They're the right questions.
And you deserve more than a leaflet.
The Obvious Question
You can. There's accurate, useful information out there but for every solid source there are ten pushing supplements, miracle diets, or outright nonsense. Most people don't have the time or the background to know which is which.
One in five adults in the UK now live with diabetes or prediabetes. The information has been freely available for years. It hasn't solved the problem — because information was never the problem.
Most people already know they should eat better and move more. What they don't have is a structure that makes it actually happen, someone to hold them to it, and a plan built around their specific life rather than general advice written for everyone.
Coaching isn't about telling you things you couldn't Google. It's about behaviour change — a different skill entirely, and not one a webpage can do for you.
If knowing was enough, you wouldn't be reading this.
Face to Face
There are thousands of health coaches available online. If that works for you, fine — but it's not what I do.
I'm based in Bishop's Stortford and I work with people face to face across Hertfordshire and Essex — someone who will look you in the eye and hold you to what you said you'd do.
Some sessions are walking sessions — not because it's a gimmick, but because people talk differently when they're moving. It's one of the most effective ways to have an honest conversation about difficult things.
Human connection isn't a nice-to-have in behaviour change. It's most of the work.
I do occasionally coach online where it makes sense — but if you want a coach who shows up in person, that's what I'm here for.
About Roy
I spent most of my adult life fit and active — Royal Marines, Metropolitan Police, training consistently. I genuinely thought chronic illness was something that happened to other people.
Then I got a text from my GP. Chronic kidney disease. High cholesterol. I read it twice because I didn't believe it.
I know what 3am looks like when you're lying there dreading a life on medication. I've been there.
I turned both readings around entirely through lifestyle changes. No medication. Normal readings across the board. Confirmed by blood tests, not just how I feel. And it's why I do this work.
I also have ADHD — diagnosed later in life. If you know that building habits and staying consistent is harder for you than it seems to be for everyone else, I understand that specifically, and it's built into how I coach.
But it took me years of trial and error to get there — time and energy most people don't have. That's what the coaching cuts through. I'll work with you to stabilise your blood sugar, get your energy back, and build habits that stick. No extreme diets. No constantly starting over.
I won't promise miracles or pretend it's easy. It takes commitment. But the evidence is clear: lifestyle change moves the numbers in the right direction.
I'm a qualified Health, Wellness and Nutrition Coach (Level 5) and Personal Trainer based in Bishop's Stortford, currently completing the Prescribing Lifestyle Medicine course developed by Dr Rangan Chatterjee — the same approach used by progressive GPs across the UK to address chronic conditions through lifestyle rather than medication alone.
What Coaching Looks Like
Lifestyle medicine — the kind backed by serious research — says that the four biggest levers for blood sugar are sleep, food, movement, and stress. We work on all of them.
Not a fad diet. An honest look at what's actually raising your glucose — and what to do about it without upending your life.
Specific, achievable activity that has a real effect on insulin sensitivity. Not "do more exercise" — actually what, how much, and when.
Poor sleep drives up blood sugar. Most people don't know this. We address it practically rather than just telling you to "go to bed earlier."
You may already know what you should be doing. The problem is making it happen consistently. That's what the coaching is actually for.

What Clients Say
Coaching clients on what it actually felt like to work with Roy.
"
I always struggled with diets and building new routines, so I wanted something that would fit around me — and that's exactly what I got. I quickly started to lose weight, gain energy and feel altogether more positive, all by making tiny changes to my habits that didn't feel like a chore.

I was in a difficult place with my mood and energy levels and wasn't looking after myself. Taking it one step at a time, Roy helped me build small, achievable habits. I'm now exercising every day, eating well, and feeling so much better in myself.

We'll talk through where you are, what you've already tried, and whether coaching is the right fit. If it's not, I'll tell you that too.
Ideally we meet in person — coffee, a walk, or wherever suits. Phone or video if that's not practical.
